Are they looking for a vaccine for HPV that will also cure people already infected, or will it be only to prevent future spread?

 Thomas J. Herzog, MD (Febuary 6, 2006):

The question regarding vaccine therapy is timely as we know that the HPV virus is a cause, (the etiologic agent), of cervical cancer. This agent also is responsible for cervical precancer or dysplasia. A number of centers are working on the development of vaccines that most likely will initially be used for prevention but later also for potential treatment of HPV infected patients.
